Evidence suggests that Lucy was previously married to William Capell who was buried in Kilsby, Northamptonshire on 1 September 1839. There is a probable marriage 3 Nov 1823 in Great Addington. Bride was Lucy RIDDLE. (The only CAPELL marriage involving bride named Lucy for the correct time frame)

The 1841 census shows Lucy having two children from this previous union:

There is a baptism 23 May 1823, Great Addington Mary Capell, daughter of William and Lucy.
