Today, while researching my 5xG Grandmother, I came across something I’ve never seen before.

In the 1851 UK census, her occupation is described as “Huckster of Souls”. A huckster is a peddler, someone who sells, often deceptively. So did Hannah Howard, an unmarried mother, sell souls? We’ll probably never know, but this has to be the most original occupation I’ve come across to date.
